Some good news for Newcastle as de Jong set to make return

Siem de Jong is finally set to make a return back to the pitch following his long-term injury struggles.

Dutchman de Jong has been out for the majority of the campaign due to a groin strain and a collapsed lung and it was expected that he would go on to miss the rest of the season as a consequence.

As a boost though, the attacking midfielder has made a quicker than anticipated recovery and now manager John Carver has revealed that he will make a return back to the pitch in midweek when the Magpies reserves take on Derby County on Wednesday.

The Newcastle boss also added that Rolando Aarons could be in contention as well: "Siem De Jong will definitely play. I'm going to check on Rolando tomorrow and see how he's feeling.

"If he's up for it he will get some part of the game. If not we will leave him alone for now. But to be quite honest I can't see either playing against Spurs."
