Socceroos improvement will make life tough for Holland - Culina

Socceroos midfielder Jason Culina believes the team has improved greatly in recent years and has warned Holland to be prepared.

Pim Verbeek's Australian squad take on the Dutch team at Sydney Football Stadium on October 10 and Culina was in Sydney yesterday to promote the clash.

The Gold Coast United star feels the Aussies have come a long way and do not fear any nation, even without striker Mark Viduka.

"I honestly believe we are a better team now, even though there's no Mark Viduka,'' Culina said. "Viduka makes a big difference to any team and I'd love him to be there. We'll miss him but, unfortunately, he's probably decided he doesn't want to be involved in this World Cup.

"But with the players we've got, we've done well up until now and I think we can only improve. We know what to expect now and we've all matured. You can see that in our results from world rankings where we have come from to where we are now.

"I think the confidence is high now and, as long as we can keep these good results coming, we'll be ready. We're not afraid as long as we keep getting these practice matches against teams like the Dutch we'll be better prepared for it.''
