Socceroos hopefuls in Europe

Similar to the UK, a number of Australian players are plying their trade in Europe this weekend.

The following Socceroos hopefuls are either in action or injured for the clubs whether it be Italy's Serie A or Belgium's Jupiler League:

Mark Bresciano (Palermo - Italian Serie A): Bresciano is still trying to shake a nagging back injury and will not be a part of the Rosanero squad that takes on Chievo Verona at home. Palermo are currently fourth on the league table but are way behind the top three - Inter, Roma and AC Milan - in regards to challenging for the title.

David Carney (FC Twente - Dutch Eredivisie): The 26-year old wingback is returning from a long injury lay-off and will probably not make the league leading squad that will host Heerenveen. Twente lead the Dutch table by four points over Ajax Amsetrdam.

Scott Chipperfield (FC Basel - Swiss Super League): The Socceroos veteran has been in stellar form, scoring three goals in his past five outings and will be looking for more of the same away at FC Zurich. Basel are sitting second, six points behind Young Boys.

Ante Covic (Elfsborg - Swedish Allsvenskanliga): Elfsborg are away to Helsingborg and Covic is looking for his fourth clean sheet in five games.

Brett Holman (AZ Alkmaar - Dutch Eredivisie): Holman will be hoping he can gain a start after a few substitute appearances in recent weeks. AZ are away to NEC Nijmegen as they look to break into the top four.

Mile Jedinak (Antalyaspor - Turkish Super Lig): Jedinak has been consistent and reliable for the Turkish club in the past month or so and they will be looking for him to continue on in that vein when they host Istanbul BSK. Antalyaspor are currently 11th on the league table.

Harry Kewell (Galatasaray - Turkish Super Lig): One of the key players for the Socceroos is still out with a groin injury. Fourth-placed Gala take on relegation battlers Diyarbakirspor.

Lucas Neill (Galatasaray - Turkish Super Lig): Neill has been solid for Gala and will be in the starting line-up for the clash with Diyarbakirspor at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium.

Michael Petkovic (Sivasspor - Turkish Super Lig): Petkovic has fallen out of favour with Sivasspor as they have dropped to 15th on the table. He didn't start the last match against Galatasaray and apparently wasn't injured. Hopefully he's back for Monday's clash with Kayserispor.

Carl Valeri (Sassuolo - Italian Serie B): Promotion chasers Sassuolo and midfielder Valeri are away to 14th-placed Modena and are deeply entrenched in the top three.

Dario Vidosic (Duisburg - German 2.Bundesliga): Duisburg host Greuther Furth as they chase a spot in the top three of Germany's second tier. Vidosic would want to improve on recent performances.

Luke Wilkshire (Dinamo Moscow - Russian Premier League): Wilkshire has started all four matches of the Russian Premier League but Dinamo have had some indifferent results, with one win, one draw and two losses. They take on FK Tom'Tomsk on the weekend.
