The claims follow the revelation that Lampard has started following Mertens on Instagram, with the Chelsea manager's latest social media activity picked up by eagle-eyed fans, reports the Daily Express.
Lampard only follows 294 other users on the platform, despite boasting 4.1million followers himself.
