Shane Smeltz is set to follow former Gold Coast United teammate Jason Culina to Newcastle Jets. Jets owner Nathan Tinkler is flexing his financial muscle to lure the NZ international striker south, despite rival interest from Perth Glory.
Smeltz is warming to the Jets offer, despite more money being on the table from the Glory.
The striker is off contract at the end of the finals campaign.
