Shane Smeltz was on target as New Zealand produced a great performance to defeat Serbia 1-0 in a World Cup warm-up match in Austria.
The Gold Coast United star's 23rd minute finish proved to be the difference as the All Whites claimed a huge scalp leading into their second ever foray into the World Cup finals.
Almost a week after they were beaten 2-1 by a last-gasp Brett Holman goal by Australia, New Zealand showed the world they will be no easy-beats by downing the world's number 15 team.
New Zealand take on Italy, Paraguay and Slovakia in the World Cup with their first group stage match against Slovakia in Rustenburg on June 15.
