Gold Coast United's Steve Pantelidis has spoken of the lift that returning striker Shane Smeltz has given the squad ahead of tonight's clash with North Queensland Fury.
The New Zealand international is back with United from Turkish club Genclerbirligi for the remainder of the A-League season and Pantelidis says it is a great move by the club to get the two-time Golden Boot winner back for the title tilt.
"Smeltzy coming back has given everyone a lift and you can already see that in training," he said.
"It's great to have him here with us again as he's a top guy and a proven goalscorer.
"We're all delighted he's back and we can't wait to see him out there on the pitch scoring goals again."
United host the Fury at Skilled Park tonight and will be desperate for a win to bridge the gap with third-placed Central coast Mariners who are five points clear.
