Wellington Phoenix striker Shane Smeltz says making public his move to Gold Coast United has helped his form. "It has helped me in the long run coming out with it. If I had held on to the decision, it would have been building up and building up," he said.

"I think I made the right choice in telling everybody and it has also helped the Phoenix in the long run.

"We're playing good football and I want to do as well as I can in my remaining time here. Hopefully we can achieve something this season."
