Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel has apologised for calling manager Jurgen Klopp a 'd***head' on Instagram.
One of Skrtel's friends on the social media site, with an account name 'pharrelski', uploaded a picture of the pair with the caption 'Klopp is a d***head'.
The Slovakia international reacted by commenting 'last hashtag is top' on the post.
The exchange between the two continued as the original uploader responded with 'Hope Jurgen won't see it' to which Skrtel replied 'hope he does'.
The 31-year-old's comments soon created an outcry among Liverpool fans and he has since issued an apology.
"I am truly sorry for the situation and what was written under my name," Skrtel said on his page.
"These days, when I am very busy, I have asked my close friend to help me manage my social media profiles.
"He got taken away and he did not realise how serious the comments may appear.
"I would like to stress that the opinion he expressed is not my opinion."
The Slovakia international is expected to leave Anfield in the summer after falling out of favour with Klopp last season.
