Sissoko a good example to Newcastle teammates - Benitez

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez claims that midfielder Moussa Sissoko has proved to be a good example to his teammates.

The 26-year-old has struggled with his form this season, but he was handed the captaincy by Benitez for Saturday's win over Swansea City.

The France international repaid his manager's faith by scoring a goal in the convincing 3-0 win at St. James' Park and attracted praise for his influential role.

"When I came in, a lot of people were giving me information but Moussa was one of those players I knew was very dangerous whenever we played against Newcastle," said Benitez.

"The first day watching his face, he was believing. He was thinking 'I can do well'.

"Before, he did not have too much confidence. That can happen. It is not a question of who is in charge.

"The team was not performing so it is normal but now I am really pleased with him.

"He is doing well and is a good example to the other players."
