Sir Geoff Hurst heaps praise on Leicester striker Vardy

England legend Sir Geoff Hurst has praised Leicester City star Jamie Vardy.

Despite looking down and out, Leicester managed to pull off a great escape to retain their Premier League status by going on a fantastic run of seven wins in eight Premier League matches and the man pivotal in the run was striker Jamie Vardy.

Vardy was in sensational form during the latter part of the season and as just rewards to his efforts, the 28-year old was called up to the England national team by manager Roy Hodgso, just three years after he was playing non-league football with Fleetwood Town.

Vardy has impressed many with his performances this season and none more so than legendary England forward Hurst, who has heaped praise on the striker.

"I have seen him play a few times," said Hurst. "One thing that has struck me is his willingness to run, graft, and run behind defenders. You don't see that much these days, a lot is played to feet.

"He can turn defenders around, that's how I was brought up. He is willing to run past defenders into the channels and that is what I honed my career on.

"My advice to him for his debut would be just to prepare as he has done for every other game at Leicester City. You are there because of what you have done, so keep doing it."
