Sir Alex Ferguson blanked David Moyes in the final days of his Manchester United reign. The Sunday Times says news of the Scot's imminent dismissal broke on Monday afternoon but he was in the dark and his calls and texts to Ferguson went unanswered.
He was made to wait until the following morning to learn his fate.
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Wayne Rooney and Darren Fletcher gave him their support and that Adnan Januzaj was 'emotional' when he learned of the former manager's departure.
