Singapore team reveals Japanese kit sponsor

Singaporean team Albirex Niigata Singapore has announced that Japanese sports brand Gol.Japan has replaced Adidas as the team's apparel sponsor, reports SportsPro. According to an official press release, the S. League team, an affiliate of Japanese J. League club Albirex Niigata, will wear Gol.Japan playing kit from January 2013 until the end of the 2016 season.

The exact financial terms of Gol.Japan's deal were not released.

Gol.Japan president, Takayuki Ashizawa, said: "We have 300 stores in Japan and this is the first sponsorship deal outside of the country. We have sponsored various teams in Japan including kids, students and adults.

"We decided to sponsor Albirex because we saw potential in Singapore. With this deal, we hope to venture to other Southeast Asia countries, such as Thailand and Philippines," continued Ashizawa.

"We want to introduce Japanese football brand to Singapore and Southeast Asia. The Albirex Café will be used to sell Gol.Japan jerseys and merchandise," added Albirex chairman Daisuke Korenaga.
