Simeone takes Catania job

Argentine legend Diego Simeone has taken the Catania job.

The ex-Inter and Lazio midfielder was hired after Marco Giampaolo walked away late last night.

"I thank the President and director Pietro Lo Monaco for having brought me back to Italy," said the former Estudiantes and River Plate tactician.

"There is a lot of pressure in Italy and I really like Serie A, as any team can beat you. For example, that is not the case in Spain.

"Maxi Lopez is an extraordinary player and the important thing is to give him the right service, putting him in the best condition to do well.

"Aside from the many Argentine players in the team, there are also numerous talented young Italians. Right now the most important aspect is psychological, talking through how we'll approach Saturday's game in Parma."
