Sigmund signs new Wellington Phoenix deal

Ben Sigmund has pledged his allegiance to Wellington Phoenix by signing a two-year contract extension.

The 31-year old defender had a year left on his deal but has added a further two to remain with the A-League club until 2015.

"I could have looked at other options, but honestly there is nowhere else I wanted to be," Sigmund said.

"My family is here and I love this club so why move if they want me to stay.

"They have looked after me with an improved contract and it being for three years gives me security for the family."

The extension is good news for the Phoenix as Sigmund has taken out the clubs Player of the Year award over the past two seasons.
