Siena have explained rejecting the chance to sign AC Milan striker Pippo Inzaghi in the summer.
The Tuscan minnows made a final deadline day offer for the 38-year-old, only for the striker to commit his future to the Rossoneri.
"We had been thinking about Inzaghi for quite some time," Siena President Massimo Mezzaroma told SportItalia.
"We intensified our actions in the last few days of the window because we thought that he may decide to come and give us a hand.
"I believe that he thought about it for a long time and, in the end, that it was a difficult decision for him to make."
