Siena have confirmed talks with Marco Giampaolo as they part company with coach Mario Beretta.

"It wasn't easy to keep afloat in Serie A yet again and there is a great joy that we managed it," Siena director Roberto Zanzi explained on Siamo Tutti Ct.

"But the owner wants to take the club on a new path and that sees Siena and Beretta part company.

"Mario has done an excellent job with the squad and I'm sure that he will do well in his future posts.

"There was a meeting with Giampaolo a few days ago and we will meet him again when Manuel Gerolin returns and we will formalise everything."
