Shrewsbury's Aussie midfielder faces major knee surgery

League Two Shrewsbury Town midfielder James Wesolowski is likely to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. The 27 year old Australian has ruptured two ligaments in his knee.

"Weso has ruptured the MCL and ACL ligaments in his knee and will need an operation on this," said Shrewsbury physio Chris Skitt.

"It will take place sometime in the next four weeks as we need to allow the swelling to go down and his knee to settle before the operation.

"The injury will keep him out for a sustained time. The prognosis is that he will probably be out for the rest of the season. Hopefully there will be better news after the operation."
