Nicky Shorey says he's been able to settle quickly at Reading.

The England left-back has returned to Reading after leaving West Bromwich Albion.

"It's been pretty easy settling back in," Shorey told GetReading.

"There are a lot of familiar faces. The new owner has come in and he's looking to progress the club.

"It's always been a good sound club and there is a good basis to build from.

"I think the manager and the staff have put together a very strong squad.

"There is a lot of competition in every position and it's probably the strongest squad I've seen at Reading."
