Nicky Shorey is hoping to kickstart his career at West Bromwich Albion.
Last season Shorey had loan spells at both Nottingham Forest and Fulham and he admitted that he jumped at the chance to sign for the Baggies.
"At Villa I wasn't enjoying myself as much as when I was playing," Shorey, who signed for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £1 million, told the Sunday Mercury.
"It was just one of those things, I suppose I knew that I needed to move on, that's why I went to Nottingham Forest and Fulham to play football. I don't want to just sit about, I want to be playing football.
"That's why I joined West Brom because my aim is just to be playing again. I've really enjoyed the last few games and I'm up for the challenge here. Obviously it's been a tough start to the campaign but the spirit is good and we all know what we want to achieve.
"For me it's just nice to be involved in a squad again, and to be playing. I think we've played well so far and we're learning from each game.
"We are just looking forward to each game now."
