Alex Brosque says he is feeling good about his role in the Australian national team.

The 28-year old Shimizu S-Pulse has taken a while to really integrate into the Socceroos setup after a sprinkling of call-ups but no actual caps earlier on in his career.

But the former Sydney FC man, fresh off a match-winning brace in the 4-2 victory Saudi Arabia, feels comfortable on the international scene despite playing ahead of some top attacking players such as Tim Cahill, Brett Holman and Josh Kennedy.

"There were a lot of big names missing, a lot of European-based players that didn't come back," said Brosque.

"So that just means that the players that do get a chance, we have to take it and we have to show why we're in the squad.

"Personally I was happy to have contributed my little part to the win.

"It is about repaying that faith and showing (manager Holger Osieck) why he does pick you and that's why I guess games like this make me feel a lot better about being in the squad."
