Tim Sherwood has revealed the advice he received from Sir Alex Ferguson when first taking charge of Tottenham.
Sherwood replaced Andre Villas-Boas at the helm in 2013 but made way for Mauricio Pochettino five months later despite an impressive stint in charge.
Sherwood has recalled a chat he had with Manchester United legend Fergie after he took the plunge.
The 51-year-old told the Daily Mail: "I spoke to him. He told me, 'You play two games a week as a manager — one is the press conference and the other is a football match. Sometimes it's just as important to win the conference as it is the match'.
"He was right. But I didn't grasp that one."
