Sherwood praises 3,000 travelling Tottenham fans

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood was full of praise for the 3,000 Spurs fans who traveled to Portugal on Thursday.

The north London club drew 2-2 with Benfica in the second leg of their Europa League Round of 16 clash at Estadio da Luz on Thursday night which saw them crash out of the competition 5-3 on aggregate.

However, Sherwood said both he and the playing group were thrilled with the visiting support of the Spurs faithful.

"Credit to Benfica, they go through over two legs. You have to say the one that scores the most goals deserves to go through," said Sherwood after the second-leg match.

"But for us, the 3,000 travelling fans from London must be proud of what they saw.

"The boys are very proud about what the fans have done for them tonight as they stuck behind them, travelling in numbers, and the boys have put on a performance which they can go and be proud of."
