Sherwood keen to lift morale at Tottenham

Tim Sherwood is pleased to be back at Tottenham as part of Harry Redknapp's coaching team.

The former Spurs midfielder wants to help instil the team spirit that helped him win the Premier League as a player with Blackburn 13 years ago - and he insists similar success in his new role is possible.

"We had good players who worked hard for each other and our team spirit was second to none," Sherwood said.

"That's something we want to try to put into place here at Spurs because anything is possible and that's something we proved at Blackburn."

The first job for Spurs is getting out of the relegation zone, and they host Sherwood's former club this weekend.

Boss Harry Redknapp has brought Sherwood and Les Ferdinand back to White Hart Lane to kick-start their coaching careers.

Another former Spurs player, goalkeeper Tony Parks, has been brought in to work with Heurelho Gomes after a series of blunders from the Brazilian.

"The guys really want to listen to all the staff here," Sherwood said. "That's the only way forward. If they don't listen they won't be in the team.

"We are telling them the methods we want to get the best results."
