Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood wants Fabian Delph to add goals to his repertoire.

The 25-year old midfielder netted the winner in the FA Cup semi-final triumph over Liverpool on Sunday and although Sherwood was thrilled for his captain, he desires more of the same from the former Leeds United young gun.

"Fabian is the skipper," Sherwood said. "He wears his heart on his sleeve. He has signed a contract when he could have gone to a club in the top four. He is what I need. I need characters like him.

"He was driving forward from midfield against Liverpool (in the cup semi-final). But I have said to him that he has to add goals to his game.

"He has scored two now since I have been here. He has got the energy and quality to keep that going."
