Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood paid tribute to their fans after Arsenal's 4-0 FA Cup final rout.

Sherwood admits his players were outclassed on the day.

"The fans have been brilliant since I came into the club.

"They were great today and fantastic all season and we're sorry we couldn't give them anything to sing about today. I feel bad at the moment. I came here wanting to win for myself, the players and fans.

"The job was to come in and keep the team in the division which I've managed to achieve. I've got to make sure I improve this squad so we're not fighting relegation again.

"If we can do that maybe we can have a couple more trips to Wembley - that's the plan.

"They came up against world class footballers today. We didn't play particularly well.

"They didn't let us play either. They worked hard and stopped us playing."
