Sheffield Utd striker Sharp confident McGoldrick can hit goals trail

Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp is confident David McGoldrick can hit the goals trail after breaking his season duck.

McGoldrick headed United in front in their FA Cup tie at Reading on Tuesday, before an extra-time winner from Sharp sealed United's quarter-final place after George Pușcaș had equalised from the penalty spot.

Sharp said: “It was a great goal, a great ball from Ozzy [Ben Osborn] and he headed it down well and looked like a man in form.

“I'm sure he's delighted with it and all the boys are delighted for him. Hopefully, he can go on a run now."

He added: “The lads are right behind him, the fans are right behind him, and we know what he does. All he's not done this season is score goals. He's put his performances in this season and he's been unlucky at times.

“It's great he scored because he now knows the pressure's off. He can go out there and just concentrate and enjoy himself."
