Sheffield Utd fullback Enda Stevens calls for season to continue

Sheffield United fullback Enda Stevens has called for the season to continue.

United were seventh in the Premier League when the coronavirus postponment was confirmed, with a game in hand on Manchester United in fifth.

And Stevens told Off The Ball in his native Ireland: "The scenario you don't want is to be playing behind-closed-doors because you'd miss that fan interaction.

"But in terms of voiding the league, we have to get to that stage. Let's see what comes in the next few weeks. It's a hard decision to make.

"It's a bit surreal for us. We have no games to look forward to like a lot of people. We'll have to see how it goes."

Stevens added: "The worst thing would be to have to self-isolate for a long time. It'd be torture but if it needs to be done, it'll be done.

"It'll get worse before it gets better and we all have to do our best to contain it."
