Sheffield Utd boss Clough insists they deserved Cup win

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough insists they deserved their 2-1 Capital One Cup win at MK Dons.

Two late goals by substitute Michael Higdon edged the all-League One tie in the Blades' favour, putting the visitors into the quarter-finals just a season after they reached the last four of the FA Cup.

Clough said: "It's an incredible achievement to get into the last eight as a League One side - it's brilliant.

"I thought over the course the game we just about edged it terms of chances.

"I thought our spell at the start of the second half was good - first half there was nothing in it, a bit cat and mouse then a rash challenge by Craig Alcock gives them the lead.

"However, after that I thought we deserved our two goals.

"Michael scored the winner as well in the last round at Leyton Orient and he's got us through again tonight with two goals so he can't do too much more than that.

"He's back from suspension, this is his second game back and he's done brilliant in coming off the bench and scoring those two goals.

"I thought all round it was a good solid team performance which showed the strength of the squad."
