Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua have rubbished claims that star striker Nicolas Anelka is set to take over as manager.
Reports have suggested that current boss Jean Tigana, formerly of Fulham and Bordeaux, was to be replaced by the ex-Chelsea striker after a poor start to the CSL season but the club has confirmed that move is not on the cards.
"In response, Shanghai Shenhua hereby declare that all these rumours lack any factual substance and are one sided.
"The club would like to thank the community, fans, and the media for their concern, and we will release official news as soon as possible when conclusions have been reached.""Recently, it has come to our attention that Chinese and foreign media outlets have reported stories relating to Jean Tigana and the club," read a statement on the club's official website.
