Shakespeare: Leicester future not in my hands…

Leicester City head coach Craig Shakespeare says he is none the wiser to knowing what is ahead for him.

The 53-year-old took over the reins at Leicester in March following the sick sacking of Claudio Ranieri, who had led the team to the Premier League title last season.

Shakespeare has done a brilliant job since stepping in, winning six Premier League matches in a row, while performing admirably against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals win which they met their demise on Tuesday night.

Regarding his future at the King Power Stadium, Shakespeare admits it is not up to him but would welcome talks with the East Midlands hierarchy.

"It's not in my hands - it's in the club's hands," said Shakespeare.

"We'll sit down at the end of the season, but I'm more than happy to sit down before that if it arises. The contract says until the end of the season. I've enjoyed it.

"I've pitted my wits against one of the best managers and teams in the world in the Champions League.

"From experiences it's been really, really good - now is the time to reflect and at the end of the season I'll be able to reflect on my own performance as well as the clubs."
