Heart of Midlothian defender Ryan McGowan has been offered a two-game ban by the Scottish Football Association.
SFA Compliance Officer Vincent Lunny has investigated the incident involving the Australian youth international and Hibernian winger Ivan Sproule in Monday's Edinburgh derby in which McGowan appeared to push his head into his opponent's stomach.
McGowan, who scored in his side's 3-1 win, got up off the ground quickly after being felled by Sproule and made contact with the Hibs players midriff he went unpunished by referee Calum Murray.
However, the SFA have activated a notice of complaint for violent conduct in which Hearts have until 3pm on Friday to respond to otherwise McGowan will be sidelined for two matches.
