Sevilla winger Bryan Gil has welcomed new coach Jose Luis Mendilibar.

Mendilibar was named Sevilla coach this week after the dismissal of Jorge Sampaoli.

Gil played for the veteran coach at Eibar and said: "Mendilibar is a coach I know and he is going to help us a lot. He can come in handy for Sevilla. He is going to bring intensity and pressure after loss. People are going to like it."

Gil, on-loan from Tottenham, has dismissed claims of a relegation threat.

“I see my teammates and I'm sure that this Sevilla won't go down. We're going to get higher. Whoever believes that this team is in the Segunda Division knows neither the club nor the players."
