Juventus chief Alessio Secco is urging the board to release extra funds to sign Italy star Giuseppe Rossi. Tuttosport says with former Werder Bremen playmaker Diego now signed and Udinese's Gaetano D'Agostino on his way, Juve's summer transfer budget has just about been spent.
However, with Rossi intimating a willingness to return to Italy this summer, Secco is hoping to persuade the club's backers to make money available to meet Villarreal's £18 million asking price.
A swap involving David Trezeguet has been mentioned, but Villarreal have gone cold on the prospect due to the comparison in ages.
Secco still hopes to find a buyer for the Frenchman in order to help fund a bid for Rossi, who is also wanted by Inter and AC Milan.
