Seattle Sounders take advantage into CCL QF second leg

Seattle Sounders will take a one-goal advantage into the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final second leg against Santos Laguna.

The Sounders beat the Mexicans 2-1 at home in the first leg thanks to a 63rd minute winner from Brad Evans after Herculez Gomez had canceled out David Estrada's opener.

Seattle head coach Sigi Schmid said it was a quality performance from his players to grab the required winning goal which gives them the ascendency for the March 14 return leg.

"As we always say, whatever the obstacles are we're just going to deal with them," Schmid said. "We deal with the adversity and we move on."

And Evans, who headed home the winning goal, says the victory has put his side in a very strong position to move into the final four.

"I think the guys are confident right now," Evans said. "Obviously we'd like to have the shutout; we don't want to see that one go in.

"To respond and get the second goal gives us even more confidence going down there. Like Sigi said, we know that they have to beat us."
