Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid has played down suggestions that the club is in pursuit of Clint Dempsey.
Some reports have suggested that the Sounders were looking to pull off a major coup by luring the Tottenham star to CenturyLink Field but Schmid told radio station 950 KJR-AM that there was nothing to the speculation.
"We're always interested in good players, first off and foremost. That's the No. 1 thing our fans need to know: We're always interested in good players. But right now there's really nothing to it. There's nothing to say," he said of the Dempsey rumours.
"You can never close the door on anything, but right now there's nothing that's nailed down and concrete."
