Clint Dempsey has revealed his reasons for joining Seattle Sounders.
The USA star has made the move from Tottenham to return to MLS and says the Sounders did everything they could to land his signature.
"Well, the opportunity came up. Going into the season, I thought I was going to be at Tottenham, but MLS and the Seattle Sounders, they moved mountains to get me here," he said in an interview on the KING-5 broadcast during halftime of Saturday's 3-0 win against FC Dallas.
"I am excited to be back in America. I love being here. This is the league that gave me my opportunity, gave me my chance to be a professional. I'm happy to come back in my prime and be able to make a difference and not come back when I was passed it."
And former New England Revolution and Fulham star Dempsey was looking to continue the scoring form he has experienced over the past few seasons in England.
"That's the ideal situation: you want to come in and get straight to scoring goals," he added. "Hopefully it will be a smooth transition and I'm excited about coming up here. The atmosphere of the game here is just incredible."
