Seattle Sounders going for three-peat in US Open Cup

Seattle Sounders will be after a Lamar Hunt US Open Cup three-peat when they take on Chicago Fire at CenturyLink Field on October 4.

The Cascadia club moved into the cup decider for the third year in a row when they defeated FC Dallas 1-0 on Thursday night and will now look to add to the 2010 and 2009 victories in the competition.

A tough encounter was played out at the Starfire Sports Complex with limited goalscoring chances for both sides but the Sounders got the better of Dallas thanks to Fredy Montero's 40th minute curling effort from just outside the area.

Seattle defeated Columbus Crew 2-1 last season at their home venue following the 2-1 triumph over DC United at RFK Stadium in 2009.
