Seattle Sounders forward Estrada joins Atlanta Silverbacks

North American Soccer League (NASL) side Atlanta Silverbacks have signed David Estrada from Seattle Sounders.

The 26-year old Mexican forward has joined the Silverbacks on loan and could make his debut in this weekend's NASL opening weekend against the NY Cosmos.

Sounders boss Sigi Schmid said after training on Thursday that it was a great chance for Estrada to get some regular first team minutes.

"It's just an opportunity for him to get some games. We can recall him at any time that we need to," said Schmid.

"We just felt he wasn't getting games for us and it was important for him at this stage to see what he can do as a forward down there and see if he can bang some goals in and compete and be successful at that level. It's going to be good for him, and then we'll go from there."

Estrada joined Seattle via the 2010 MLS SuperDraft in 2010 and has since appeared 40 times for five goals, including a hat-trick in March 2012.
