Seattle Sounders book playoff final with LA Galaxy

Seattle Sounders have moved into the Western Conference Championship final courtesy of a second leg 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Thursday night.

Honduran Mario Martinez netted an 81st minute volley to send the Sounders through to the next phase of the playoffs where they will meet reigning champions LA Galaxy in the first leg on Sunday.

It was Seattle's first-ever win in the MLS playoffs and star attacker Fredy Montero admitted they are now excited about the thought of meeting the Galaxy in the next round.

"We have never had this chance before," Montero said. "We are very excited to play against the Galaxy.

"We are hungry to get to the final. We played hard today and we did what we had to."
