Scotland boss Clarke defends Robertson over Liverpool celebrations

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has given Liverpool star Andy Robertson his full backing after the defender was seen drinking shortly before their crucial World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.

The Reds star was filmed with a bottle of beer in his hands during the Reds' open top bus parade to celebrate winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup trophies.

Robertson had taken part in the Champions League final with Liverpool on Saturday, which they lost to Real Madrid.

Clarke told reporters: "I saw the clip and I was pleased that he was getting over his disappointment. Some people want to make too much out of small things.

"It was the right thing to do, the right thing to celebrate with his team and his supporters on the back of a fantastic season for Liverpool.

"He has joined us in a great place and that's all I am concerned about. I don't care about criticism. It won't bother Andy and it certainly won't bother me."
