Scholes willing to quit retirement to rescue Man Utd season

Paul Scholes is ready to come out of retirement to rescue Manchester United's season. The Sun says he will now answer a call from the boss if it comes in the second half of the season.

Sir Alex Ferguson was convinced at the end of last season that Scholes had at least another year left in him - just like 38-year-old veteran Ryan Giggs.

But the player was happy to bow out at the end of last season with the club winning a record 19th title.

However, as soon as this season started, he was questioning his own decision and badly missed training and playing.

Scholes is still fit enough to play as he trains with the reserves every day at Carrington as well as coaching them.

While Scholes is reluctant to go to Fergie directly to offer his services, he will now help out if called upon.
