Schmid expecting massive farewell crowd for Seattle veteran Keller

Sigi Schmid is expecting Seattle Sounders fans to turn out in force for this weekend's clash with San Jose Earthquakes.

The CenturyLink Field fixture will mark veteran goalkeeper Kasey Keller's last home match for the club and Schmid says the expected crowd of more than 59,000 will provide a great backdrop for the end of an outstanding career for the ex-Fulham and Tottenham man.

"I think it's a great reflection of our fans' understanding what's happening and what's going on," he told The Seattle Times.

"If you don't have a ticket yet, you need to get one because it's going to be a special event. You don't always get to see someone's last regular-season game. To see someone who has been a premier U.S. goalkeeper, who's played in World Cups as he has, you don't often get that opportunity.

"From that standpoint, you want to be there, you want to be part of the event.

"I think it's a reflection that our fans have committed themselves to coming out and honoring Kasey. It's well deserved."
