Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel is pleased to see Ryan Giggs remain as assistant manager.
Schmeichel reckons Louis van Gaal was shrewd to keep on ex-player turned caretaker Giggs on as his No.2.
He told the Mirror: "By appointing Ryan as his assistant he is making sure United's culture and history is part of his tenure. Ryan is a competent coach, a good leader who has shown that over the years.
"But now Van Gaal also has someone there who can always put him in the Manchester United picture and he can then make his mind up from there.
"The history and tradition and culture of Manchester United is important and you have to work hard to keep that."
