Schmeichel being linked with German giants Bayern Munich

Notts County keeper Kasper Schmeichel says he is honoured to be linked with Bayern Munich. The German giants, who will play Inter Milan in the Champions League final later this month, are reportedly set to swoop for the 23-year-old keeper when his contract with County ends next Tuesday, reports the Nottingham Post.

The former Denmark U21 international has been scouted by Blackburn and Birmingham City - and has also been linked with Spurs, West Brom and Derby.

Schmeichel, who plays his final game for Notts at Torquay today, said: "We have still got a game left so I'm only concentrating on that and then I'm going on holiday.

"I have got people working on it and if the right offer comes a long I will look at it.

"There have been a lot of enquiries, but I want to finish this season on a high first."

After playing 42 league games for Notts in their title-winning campaign in League Two, Schmeichel said he would love to be a No.1 at his next club.

But he admits he would move to a club even if he is not guaranteed first-team football if he could learn from a world-class No.1. It opens the door for a move to Bayern, whose first-choice keeper is Hans-Jorg Butt.

"Munich are a great team and it is a huge honour to be linked with a team like that," he said. "There are certain clubs I would consider joining to have the experience and learn from a world-class No.1, like I did at Manchester City.

"But my main objective is to play. I have always believed in my ability and I've now played my first full season, I'm going to take stock, look at where I need to improve and hopefully I can kick on."
