Schalke have denied Tottenham the chance to take Lewis Holtby earlier than his pre-contract agreement states.
The 22-year old midfielder is set to join Spurs when his contract in Germany expires in June but the North London club wanted to bring him earlier following the injury to Sandro.
However, Schalke manager Horst Heldt has made it clear that the player will not be departing prior to the negotiated date.
"Tottenham have made an offer, which was not acceptable, therefore it was rejected," said Heldt.
"The transfer window is still open and Lewis has not become any cheaper."
