Schalke's Jones seeking possible MLS move ahead of World Cup

Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones could soon be headed to Major League Soccer according to reports.

The 32-year old has not been given regular game time guarantees by Schalke boss Jens Keller and is seeking a winter exit from the Gelsenkirchen club.

MLSsoccer.com suggests the former Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and Blackburn Rovers man has already held talks with an unnamed MLS club as he seeks consistent first team football leading up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Keller said of Jones: "I could not tell Jones that he'd have a guaranteed starting spot in the second half of the season.

"He was professional about being benched during the first half of the season, but with a World Cup on the horizon, and at the age of 32, it might have become a bit more difficult."
