Schalke are attempting to convince Robert Huth to quit Stoke City.

The Daily Star says Schalke are ready to step up their interest in the former German international, who is their No.1 choice as the long-term replacement for Christoph Metzelder.

They were among several Bundesliga sides that made unsuccessful attempts to lure the central defender home last summer.
