Schalke chief Jochen Schneider admits they're delighted with the arrival of David Wagner.

Schalke have appointed Wagner as new coach for next season despite his sacking by Huddersfield Town.

Schneider told WAZ: "David radiates a great personality, he has a positive, open nature, his motivation and hunger are great. The way he deals with people is also to be highlighted.

"I have good contacts in England and have spoken to his last club Huddersfield."

He continued: "I did not have to convince him at all. In other words, it was not a masterpiece of mine that David signed with us. That was right in the first conversation. Schalke is something special for David."
