Scarlett hails Spurs teammate Devine after winning U19 Euros

Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett is full of pride helping England win the U19 Euros.

Scarlett was part of the Young Lions side that lifted the trophy in Slovakia on Friday night following a 3-1 victory over Israel in the final.

Along with Club team-mate Alfie Devine, Scarlett was influential throughout the tournament, both players contributing goals and assists to help England storm through the competition and eventually claim the silverware.

“It's a great feeling to know that you are part of the best national team in Europe in your age group," said the 18-year-old, who played in four of the Young Lions' five games, scoring twice and providing one assist. “Honestly, we all had that belief going into the tournament that we were capable of going all the way and thankfully we did that.

“The competition as a whole went really well for us – the team built a real togetherness throughout the qualifying rounds and we were able to show our quality in the tournament itself. On a personal note, I'm proud to put on the England shirt and contribute to the team."

Scarlett also had words of praise for Devine, who began the tournament with a cracking goal against Austria and later provided two assists: “Alfie was top-class every minute that he played," added the forward. “He also contributed to the team with his assists and an amazing goal in the first game, so we are both very pleased."
